What makes InvestEngine secure?

by Charlie Sammonds

Investing your hard-earned money requires trust and confidence in the platform you choose. At InvestEngine, the security of our clients is paramount, and we’ve taken steps to ensure that your investments are managed with care. Here’s why we’re an ideal platform for your investment journey.

FCA regulation

InvestEngine (UK) Limited is Authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and is bound by their rules and regulations in the conduct of our investment business.

Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)

Additionally, investors are also likely to be covered by the provisions of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) if InvestEngine was to stop trading.

The FSCS can award up to £85,000 in compensation to any one investor where they decide that an investment business is in default and is unable to satisfy any claims against it.

Investing in ETFs, not P2P lending

InvestEngine is not a peer-to-peer (P2P) lender. With us, you are investing in a portfolio of funds called exchange-traded funds (ETFs) that track the performance of stock markets, bonds, and other assets. ETFs are known for their efficiency and flexibility, allowing you to diversify your investment portfolio easily. Diversification is a key strategy in mitigating risk, as it spreads your investments across a wide range of assets. This approach can help you stay on track even if certain markets fluctuate.

Also, ETFs in your InvestEngine account are traded on the stock market, enabling quick and straightforward withdrawals. You can sell your ETFs and typically have your cash back within three to four business days, without any withdrawal charges. In contrast, some investment platforms often impose high fees on withdrawals.

Robust security measures

At InvestEngine, we employ state-of-the-art security measures to protect your data. Our platform uses advanced encryption technology to safeguard your personal information and transactions. We continuously monitor and update our security protocols to stay ahead of potential threats and ensure your data remains confidential and secure.

Transparent and user-friendly platform

Transparency is at the core of our operations. We provide clear and detailed information about your investments, fees, and the performance of your portfolio. Our user-friendly platform makes it easy for you to manage your investments, track your progress, and make informed decisions. We believe that informed investors are empowered investors, and we are committed to providing you with the tools and information you need to succeed.

Segregated client accounts

InvestEngine holds all client cash in pooled client bank accounts at NatWest Bank Plc. NatWest has a UK banking licence which means they are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). The FSCS is backed by the government and protects clients’ deposits up to £85,000 in the unlikely event that a bank, building society or credit union defaults.

Your investments are held in a pooled client account at CREST, operated by Euroclear UK and Ireland. These are segregated from the firm’s money and investments, meaning that InvestEngine and its third-party partners have no legal right to your money and investments.

Open Banking for secure payments

We offer a convenient and secure Open Banking service to facilitate quick and easy payments into your InvestEngine account. This service, integrated with our partner TrueLayer, allows you to transfer money safely and instantly, keeping full control of your funds. You authorise the transfers through your own bank’s app or website, and we never see your bank login or password.

Choosing InvestEngine means choosing a platform that offers diversification through ETFs and provides robust security measures. Our transparent and user-friendly platform makes us a trusted partner in your investment journey. Invest with confidence and let us help you build a prosperous future.
